A short reflection on life as a co-founder. Hear Daniel share one of his biggest fears when he set out to build Connie – and what he’s learned along the way.
One of my biggest fears when I set out to build Connie was whether the creative industry would actually care.
Would paperwork and contracts matter to film makers at all?
Or would an email and a handshake always feel “good enough”?
Of course, I asked around. I did the research.
But there’s often a big gap between what people say they care about and how they actually behave. I think a lot of founders underestimate that gap – and honestly, I was worried too.
We’re still very much in build- and startup-mode, but now I know there’s a real need. And it’s pretty wild (and motivating) to look back on these first couple of years and see Connie already helping streamline documents for industry leaders like Zentropa, Nordisk Film Productions, BBC Nordic Studios, Muskelsvindfonden, Ritzau Scanpix – and many, many more.
What I learned as a founder in the film and media industry
One thing I’ve definitely learned: we are changing habits.
But we’re also building for an industry that runs on tight budgets and very full calendars, so adoption takes time. People need the headspace to try something new and really experience the value for themselves.
That’s also why it means the world to us to be co-funded by Creative Europe MEDIA.
That support gives us the runway to build things properly – and to sit down with users, listen, and learn what they actually need.
Still early days. But it’s starting to feel very real.
